This is American Healthcare?

February 23, 2010

I received an email today that reads in part:

First, let me make some brief comments about the upcoming Health Care Summit on Thursday, February 25. Yesterday President Obama released his version of a health care bill that he’d like to see move forward in advance of the Summit. Check the news, and you’ll see that Republican leaders across the board are expressing their concern that the President has no real interest in bi-partisanship and that the Summit could just be political theater. Even though the President has stated publicly that he doesn’t want a bill that uses taxpayer dollars to subsidize abortion, the version that he released does that very thing.

Instead of adopting the language passed by the House of Representatives that prohibits funding abortion, the President’s version reflects the Senate language that includes it. This is sure to create heated debate and polarized positions if the Summit actually takes place. And rightly so. Our prayer continues to be that God would drive ABORTION like a wedge into the conscience of America.

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) made the following statement today:
I was pleased to see that President Obama’s health care proposal did not include several of the sweetheart deals provided to select states in the Senate bill. Unfortunately, the President’s proposal encompasses the Senate language allowing public funding of abortion. The Senate language is a significant departure from current law and is unacceptable. While the President has laid out a health care proposal that brings us closer to resolving our differences, there is still work to be done before Congress can pass comprehensive health care reform.

For the seven days (2/19-2/25) leading up to the Health Care Summit the Bound4LIFE team based in Washington, DC is doing a Silent Siege at the White House. On Thursday President Obama plans to moderate a health care discussion between Democratic and Republican leaders. We are praying for a prevailing influence over the minds of these leaders. Would you join us in prayer as we contend for God’s truth to break in to the debate? God’s Word declares that he can turn the king’s heart in the way that pleases him! (Pr 21:1)

If this is in part what Obama thinks is public healthcare, surely the Americans are in more trouble than some people first thought.
