Pro-choice Dilemma

January 10, 2011

An interesting story in the news last week that you can read here about a woman who ate rat poison one week before she gave birth to her child. Three days after birth the baby died. As it turns out, the woman is facing possible charges for killing her baby, because it died after birth.

This of course, raises certain questions for pro-choice advocates. Claiming that a woman is able to do whatever she wants with her body, this changes the stakes. This woman may have been hoping that her body would naturally abort the baby after taking the rat poison, but it didn’t. In fact, the baby was born, and struggled through three days of life before dying.

Can a woman do anything to her body that she wants? I guess not. I feel compassion for this woman. How devastating does a life have to be that taking rat poison might solve “problems” going on. May God arrest her heart, and heal her pain. May she experience true and lasting joy in Christ, and may God use this woman’s testimony to change the hearts of women considering abortion elsewhere.

Subpoena the conscience of the nation, Lord.
